Everything goes smoothly, file permissions, systems check, extracting files
Directly after file extraction completes (before getting to MySQL page) it pops up with:
Invalid version file
This is a new installation, downloaded the package last night
Please contact the support team regarding this issue or try to download the installation archive again.
your support team is not very eager to assist. They've asked to run the installer themselves to view the error, I've given them that. They have asked for FTP access, I've given them that. They have asked me to give 777 access to certain folders, I've given them that. It does not seem as if anyone knows why this error occurs or are willing to assist with getting the problem resolved. How long should one wait before before it becomes unreasonable? Do you perhaps have a different avenue for me to pursue than your support guys?
cecil, please be patient while your support request is being processed. If there were a ready-to-use advice for you, you would already have received it. Judging by your comment, the issue requires certain amount of time to be resolved. The support team always strives to reply within the shortest time possible. I am confident that you will receive response within 1 or 2 days at most.
Thanks, I got it right.. Deleted everything, then manually created all directories, copied files and set the directory permissions. Then ran the installer for the Database part. The storefront is now successfully instsalled.
For reference, the problem seems to be related to the scripts being unable to set the necessary folder permissions (even though the user may set them). Thanks for the assist.
