I'm looking to buy Shop-Script but I need some info first.
Our store will only sell images and e-books. So how I want this to work is as follows.
1.The customer browses the site and sees what he wants, then proceeds to add the products to the shopping basket.
2.When he clicks on check out the site directs him to our banking details where he is prompted to make a payment for the amount electronically (no credit cards or paypal, just internet transfer) and then on confirmation of payment we then send him a code that he can then enter into the checkout area and only then be able to download the chosen products.
This is a very long and (stupid) way of doing this but I have no choice. Can this be done by Shop-Script?

hanzi, there is no such option - a customer receives a link to the purchased digital products just after the order has been placed. However, the link becomes active only after the order status is changed to "Paid & Delivered" - this status change can be performed either automatically (by certain payment modules) or manually. When you change the order status, you can select an option to notify the customer about the status change. Anyway, you may try to create a free account at http://www.webasyst.net/signup/?app=suite to test the full functionality of the script.

Thanks for the reply rat. I'm trying to convince the powers that be to take the credit card option (I mean, who in today's age doesn't do that, they are scared of the risks it involves).
How safe is a credit card transaction using shop-script. I just need some firepower when I reason with them.
Thanks

hanzi, just use the secure checkout option in Shop-Script that uses SSL (customer is automatically redirected to an HTTPS URL) - in that case all customer and payment-related information is passed through secure data channels without any threat to its security. For that you only need to purchase a private SSL certificate for your domain name (where SS is installed). Besides, you may use such widely known CC processing systems as Authorize.Net, PayPal etc. to have customers' credit card payments processed for you - integration modules for those payment gateways are already built into the software. Using them might sound more secure both to you and your customers than a manual credit card processing option - in any case using an SSL would greatly help to ensure payment data security for your store.

Paypal is the best option for this. Paypal now is most commonly used to transact online rather that credit card. Credit card online transaction is not safe. Paypal is.

Another option which is becoming more popular is Bank to Bank transfers. Where the customer does not provide any financial details to us. But we pass on our details to our customers our banking details. This must be the safest method for our customers. All we provide is our bank sorting code, account number and business name. They can do this online without the need for Paypal and their charges. Some credit card companies also offer the same internet banking. I normally offer the option where a link to Paypal or payment by cheque. I then send the details via email.
