I have been working on an issue with Google Checkout not charging shipping and aparently it is an issue with mod_rewrite not turned on, on the server.
I am lead to understand that this can be done in the .htaccess file. However all of my attempts have failed. Can anyone tell me what code I need to turn it on. below is my .htaccess file

How have you come to this idea? Read this article, it might be your case described in section Shipping & Tax.

The shipping that I have setup is a fixed rate with no real time calculations. I submitted the issue to support and they said that maybe it was not turned on. My hosting company Godaddy said it just had to be enabled in the .htaccess file to turn it on.

To be able to resolve the issue, it is essential to have complete diagnostic information. As long as you do not post such info here, I'm afraid, it is virtually impossible to help you.
